Curious information about recycling end-of-life tires

Tires have specific properties such as flexibility, strength and fuel properties, characterizing them as suitable for the development of a number of new products with different applications in industry and the home.

End-of-life tires can be used whole, cut or ground for embankment reinforcement, roadside embankments, anti-impact pavements, as well as for the production of soles or protectors to reduce noise and vibration.

New technologies and compounds are used to incorporate ground rubber into the production of new products. The added rubber powder extends the life of the road surface, reduces vehicle noise and improves driving safety in wet conditions.

In Bulgaria, end-of-life tires can be:

• regenerated if their condition allows;
• recycled and processed into raw material for the production of another product;
• used as raw material for combustion in industry.
